Know
your rules.
In additional to the following link to R&A rules quizzes, I recently found a valuable web site which
contains interesting updates on Rules and interpretations which I would
recommend. http://www.barryrhodes.com/

Local Rules:
18th
hole Tee shots over right hand fairway bunker & lost. ( introduced July
2011)
A permanent
Dropping Zone has been created on the pathway between the lakes to the
right of the first bunker on the 18th hole. This is designed for shots
which carry over that bunker and then "disappear" from view and
are obviously in that water hazard ahead of that bunker. The new local rule
will be posted in the Golf Shop in this regard.
Local Rule
Regarding Distance Measuring Devices: ( Introduced May 2011)
For all club
competitions at this course, a player may obtain distance information by
using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round,
a player uses a distance-
measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other
conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind speed,
temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of rule 14-3, for which the
penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional
function is actually used.

Ground
Under Repair – ( Introduced April 2010 )
With the improvement in
underfoot conditions it has been possible to commence the major drainage
programme on the Course. The net result of this work will be obvious as you
make your way around the Course. Given the extent of the new drains, and
the inevitable machinery tracks, it is simply not practical to mark all
these areas as Ground Under Repair.
However in accordance with Rule
33.2, on behalf of the Committee such areas are deemed to be "Ground
Under Repair" for the foreseeable future.
Water Hazards – Provisional Ball ( Introduced
Sept 2009)
A provisional ball
may be played for a ball which may be in a water hazard where it would be
impracticable to determine whether the ball is in the hazard or to do
so would unduly delay play. In such case, if a provisional ball is played
and the original ball is in a water hazard, the player may play the
original ball as it lies or continue the provisional ball in play, but he
may not proceed under rule 26.1.
Or in plain English for example, if you hit
your ball across the water on a hole such as the 17th and you are not sure
if it cleared the water, you may hit a provisional ball on to the green and
if you go around the lake and find your original ball in a playable
position inside or outside the hazard line you can continue to play your
original ball and ignore the provisional ball.
Of course it would be easier all round to stay out of the hazards in the first place! We
can always dream!
Local Rules Clarifications – when in place as per starters board.
Placing “A player can play it as it
lays or has the option to mark and place within 6 inches everywhere except
in Hazards.”
Dropping in Rough “A
player must Mark and drop the ball as near as possible to the original ball
position, if the ball rolls outside of one club length it must be re-dropped.”
